The foyer makes its impression in the first three seconds. A beautiful foyer that has no place for shoes and coats stops being beautiful within a week. We design concealed storage as an integral part of the foyer - either a full-height cabinet with shoe racks and coat hooks, or a bench with storage beneath. The storage is fully hidden behind clean shutters, so the foyer looks like a design space but functions as an entry space.
The foyer floor is where the outside meets the inside. We design it as a transition - using durable, easy-to-clean wood flooring that can handle daily foot traffic and light moisture. The flooring then either continues seamlessly into the living area or transitions with a clean edge. This floor treatment becomes part of the foyer identity.
Foyer lighting needs to work for two purposes: bright enough to welcome and find your way, but soft enough to transition from outside light levels. We use a combination of a statement pendant or chandelier as the focal point, wall sconces to light the mirror, and recessed spots to highlight the console or artwork. All on dimmers, so the foyer can shift from bright welcome to soft ambient depending on the time of day.
